Applications are now being accepted for college and technical education scholarships funded through the Independent Office Products and Furniture Dealers Alliance (IOPFDA). March 14, 2014 is the deadline for submission. The application form is available for download now.
Any person who is an employee or related to an employee (child, stepchild, niece, nephew, grandchild) of a NOPA or OFDA member firm may apply, according to an IOPFDA announcement.
Applicants must have graduated from high school or its equivalent before July 1 of the year in which they would use the scholarship and must have an academic record sufficient to be accepted by an accredited college, junior college or technical institute. Students already in college or graduate school are also eligible to apply. Previous scholarship winners are not eligible.
The scholarships to be awarded this year include the Barry E. Coyle Memorial Scholarship honoring the first executive director of Facilities Services Network (FSN).
Additional details are available on the Scholarship Program page at IOPFDA’s website.
The IOPFDA announcement states that an independent judging panel will consider academic success, interest, special abilities, financial need and other factors in arriving at their selection of scholarship recipients. All applicants are to hear by June 30 whether they have been awarded a scholarship.
June 30 is the deadline for filing the FAFSA application for federal financial aid. Many states and colleges have earlier deadlines for applying for state and institutional financial aid.
