McIntyre Group’s Alberta operations scored 94% during a June audit of the health and safety program now in place there. Successful completion of the audit process qualified McIntyre’s Calgary-based work force for a three-year COR certification under the Partnerships in Injury Reduction Program.
Alberta Employment and Immigration will issue the certification in coordination with McIntyre’s Certifying Partner, Alberta Construction Safety Association, according to Dan Dupuis, the health and safety representative and field manager for McIntyre Group in Alberta.
“Dan Dupuis has done an excellent job in leading our team through the COR process over the last couple of years,” said Jerry O’Brien, the general manager for McIntyre Calgary. “We completed the required training, passed the initial external audit and received our initial one-year certification—that was in May 2012—in far less time than we were told it normally takes. Earning the new, three-year certification further demonstrates our dedication to promoting good health and safety on the job.”
In addition to participating in Alberta’s Partnerships in Injury Reduction Program, McIntyre is a member in good standing of the Construction Safety Association of Ontario. The company has had no lost-time injuries for three years in both Ontario and Alberta.
Maintaining health and safety programs across the company is well worth the effort and additional expense, according to Dean McIntyre, the founder and president of McIntyre Group. “When you look at our low incidence of employee injury, McIntyre’s ability to operate safe workplaces is pretty clear. It helps us attract and retain good people and gives prospective customers yet another reason to choose McIntyre Group,” Dean said.
Headquartered in Ayr, Ontario, McIntyre Group is the sole Canadian member of Facilities Services Network, an international non-profit association of independent commercial furniture installation companies that promotes professionalism, best practices and high performance in facility and furniture services.
