McIntyre’s Workplace Safety Program in Sound Health

McIntyre Group’s Alberta operations scored 94% during a June audit of the health and safety program now in place there. Successful completion of the audit process qualified McIntyre’s Calgary-based work force for a three-year COR certification under the Partnerships in Injury Reduction Program. Alberta Employment and Immigration will issue the certification in coordination with McIntyre’s Certifying Partner, Alberta Construction Safety Association, according to Dan Dupuis, the health and safety representative and field manager for McIntyre Group in Alberta. “Dan Dupuis has done an excellent job in leading our team through the COR process over the last couple of years,” said Jerry O’Brien, the general manager for McIntyre Calgary. “We completed the required training, passed the initial external audit and received our initial one-year certification—that was in May 2012—in far less time than we were told it normally takes. Derailed Train Further Hampers McIntyre’s Calgary Team

Plans for making Thursday the McIntyre team’s first fully operational day since the floodwaters of the Bow and Elbow rivers devastated downtown Calgary last week were quickly dashed when the main McIntyre Group warehouse became landlocked due to emergency road closures in the pre-dawn hours. The partial collapse of the Bonnybrook Bridge over the Bow River in Calgary and the resulting derailment of at least one Canadian Pacific rail car carrying petroleum-based product at approximately 3:45 AM local time today led almost immediately to the closing of all roads within about a half mile radius of the bridge.
