Company Story
Aubrey Kimberling founded Professional Installers, Inc. (PI) in 1984 and has grown the company into one of the largest furniture and demountable walls installer in the Midwest.
Prior to founding Professional Installers, Inc., Aubrey spent six years at Monsanto as a facility planner. During his tenure at Monsanto (Acquired by Bayer in 2018), Aubrey saw a need for furniture installation within his own department and recognized a larger opportunity as systems furniture became prevalent throughout the corporate world. Starting PI in his garage, he began by hiring friends from high school and college, working nights and weekends to get the fledgling business off the ground. As the business began to grow, Aubrey joined the furniture industry with a local Steelcase® dealer. PI became the installation arm of the dealership and the growth continued.
In the early 90’s, Professional Installers, Inc. spun off and became its own entity.
In 2004, while celebrating its 20th anniversary, PI purchased its current facility in Maryland Heights, MO. This facility houses 6,000 square feet of renovated office space and 66,000 square feet of storage to accommodate the companies expanded services, including Inventory and Asset Management for customers. PI, also has another 100,000 square foot storage facility bringing the total storage space available to 166,000 sq. ft.
In 2016 Steve Giacin joined PI as a co-owner and is the company's President & Chief Operating Officer.
Steve brings 35+ years of construction, construction management, operations and executive level experience to the Professional Installers, Inc. team. Steve is responsible for corporate strategy, growth, cost containment and business development.
Before joining PI, Steve most recently was the Vice President, Division General Manager for a national electrical contracting firm overseeing its Colorado operation which included $35 million of P/L responsibility. Prior to that he was President of St. Louis based Kaiser Electric from 2008-2014.
2019 marked PI’s 35th year in business. A big part of the PI success story is in the corporate philosophy of constant improvement. Part of that improvement has been as a result of PI being invited to participate in a nationwide “Best Practices” consortium known as Facilities Services Network (FSN).

Project Highlight
Multi-Phase Wealth Advisory Office Installation
Project Location: St. Louis, MO
Project Completion: 2025
Professional Installers recently completed a multi-phase, multi-floor project for a leading wealth advisory firm, transforming three levels of their new office space into a modern, functional workplace.
The scope was extensive—spanning executive offices, open workstations, collaborative meeting areas, and welcoming lounge spaces. Across three floors totaling more than 75,000 square feet, our team installed:
- Hundreds of workstations and private offices featuring Kimball Priority Desks, height-adjustable returns, and integrated wire management.
- Executive and task seating including over 650 chairs ranging from task chairs and guest seating to lounge options.
- Custom storage solutions with lateral files, tall wall units, mobile pedestals, and credenzas.
- Conference and meeting tables with counterweight drum bases, side tables, and a variety of collaborative layouts.
- Finishing touches like wall-mounted shelving, planters, and integrated power management.
In addition, the project included 38 different types of ancillary furniture, from bar-height and booth-height tables to booths, benches, sofas, glass boards, lounge chairs, planters, and more—ensuring every space had the right mix of function and comfort.
To ensure precision, all products were tagged by room and floor, with contingency field cuts included to adapt to on-site conditions. Our team coordinated closely with the client’s schedule, installing floor by floor—averaging 3 to 4 weeks per level—and returning for punch list items and late-arriving products.
This project showcases Professional Installers’ expertise in managing complex, large-scale installations while delivering on time and to spec.
