ISI specializes in the installation, receiving, delivery, and asset management of commercial furniture, architectural walls, window coverings, and millwork. We are Chicago’s largest installation operation and have been a proud union shop since 1973.

Complete Installation Solutions for Chicagoland’s Commercial Interiors
ISI was established in 1973 by Bud and Shirley Sprenzel. We were Chicago’s only full-service furniture installation company at the time and we served Chicagoland’s pioneer dealers of systems furniture. Today, ISI continues to break new ground and deliver excellence on behalf of manufacturers, dealers, general contractors, interior designers, architects, property and facility managers, and end-users.
ISI is a second-generation family-owned company with a well-known commitment to client success and dedication to its employees. Whether in the field, the warehouse, or the office, our team demonstrates a strong work ethic, a can-do attitude, and an amazing ability to anticipate, solve, and work around problems.
We receive, deliver, install, store, maintain, and manage products for a wide variety of built environments, including corporate, industrial, professional services, educational, healthcare, sports, transportation, and hospitality. We are known throughout the Chicago region as the premier installers for commercial furniture, architectural walls, window coverings, and custom millwork.

Logistics Support for High Efficiency and Responsive Service
On any given day, approximately 150 full-time union carpenters are deployed from ISI to projects around Chicagoland. Our field carpenters are seasoned in architectural walls and an average of 20 years of experience in furniture installations. Over 75% of our carpenters are qualified as project foremen. All ISI installers are OSHA 30-certified and manufacturer-trained and certified in a wide variety of brands and lines.
To support our field crews, ISI’s office team includes sales professionals, project managers, project coordinators, receiving specialists, dispatchers, and accounting and administrative support specialists. Key to keeping product moving, our warehouse is fully staffed with a dedicated manager, asset management specialists, warehouse staff, and drivers.
ISI offers 200,000 SF of secure, insured, racked, and open warehousing space centrally located to best serve Greater Chicagoland. Clients can rest assured that their product is protected with our fire and smoke detection, fire suppression, back-up generator, and video security safeguards. Our branded fleet includes one tractor-trailer, seven 24-foot straight trucks, and two 16-foot vans. All vehicles are equipped with GPS and side and rear-mounted video.
ISI invests steadily in information and communication technologies that control costs, tighten response times, and boost productivity for both team members and partners. Our custom project management system was built for desktop and mobile use and dovetails with the ISI app platform to facilitate real-time voice, data, and visual communications between field, office, and client teams. We use SnapTracker™ to manage client assets and PlanGrid to collaborate with general contractors and additional project partners during installation and punch list phases.

Job Type: New construction
ISI responded with a dealer partner to a solicitation for an undisclosed client. The scope was vague and the specifications were open to dealer interpretation. The project was a new 54-story, Class A high-rise along the Chicago River. The client would call this its global headquarters and house 1,500 employees in 300,000 sf on 14 contiguous floors. The two-year procurement process was focused on processes, resources, and cultural fit and included:
- 3 mock-ups
- 9 RFP responses
- 3 interviews
With a critical timeline for occupancy, ISI began installing while the building was under construction. Each floor was a separate phase, and each phase required product to be lifted through exterior windows to the 49th floor and higher. The project was completed on time and with virtually zero punch items. ISI’s team seamlessly installed over $15 million worth of product comprising:
- 1,100 workstations
- 150 trader desks
- 450 private offices
The success of ISI and our dealer partner was a testament to the team’s ability to handle large, complex projects in a collaborative environment.
